The OA iBrace is a custom molded rigid knee orthosis that to modifies the angle of the knee to reduce the pressure between the tibia and femur. Molded from a 3D scan of the leg, the angle of the brace is adjusted numerically to obtain an optimal discharge according to the patient's knee angle. Once adjusted to the leg, the splint applies a comfortable correction that allows rapid relief of the symptoms of osteoarthritis.

What is osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis touches about 10% of canadians, with an average age at time of diagnosis of 50.4 years old. A healthy knee has a joint space between the femur and tibia filled by the meniscus. When the alignment of the knee is not optimal, the meniscus wears and this space is closed, causing friction of bone on the other, it is called osteoarthritis.
If the knee is not in its optimal axis, the pressure between the tibia and the femur is then increased, which accelerates wear of the meniscus. A knee valgus (knees inward) generally results in wear of the outside of the knee joint, while a varus (knee outwards) frequently leads to pronounced wear on the inner part of the knee.
